Ministry of Interior and IOM organize a Consultative Round Table with International stakeholders for the National Strategy for Migration 2024-2030
21 November 2023, Tirana – In support of drafting the National Strategy for Migration (2024-2030) and the Action Plan (2024-2026), IOM joined efforts with the Ministry of Interior to organize a Consultation Round Table with International stakeholders.
The Minister of Interior and IOM Albania Head of Office welcomed the event, emphasizing its significance for good migration governance in Albania, especially in the context of alignment with the standards and requirements of the EU accession process.
The Director General of Development for Migration and Asylum at the Ministry of Interior, presented the Albanian government's vision, strategic directions, and concrete actions for Migration Governance, including the priority measures outlined in the Action Plan 2024-2026, which were discussed among international stakeholders.
Earlier, as part of the drafting process of the Migration Strategy, IOM supported the Ministry of Interior in the development of workshops to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of government officials and stakeholders on the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), sustainable development, the assessment and validation of the current situation and the main priorities in the field of migration, and other relevant frameworks.
This activity was organized with the support of the project "Support for the Design and Implementation of the New National Strategy for Migration and Action Plan in Albania", funded by the IOM Development Fund.
