Strengthening Migration Management: IPAIII National Steering Committee meeting organized in Tirana
Tirana, 16 October 2024 – Today, key stakeholders convened in Tirana for the second National Steering Committee Meeting of the EU-funded programme "Regional Support to Protection-Sensitive Migration Management Systems in the Western Balkans - IPA III."
Chaired by Albania’s Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Andi Mahila, the meeting brought together distinguished representatives, including Mrs. Cinzia Tarleti from the EU Delegation in Albania, Mr. Sajmir Boshnjaku, Director of the Albanian Border and Migration Police, and representatives from key implementing partners: Frontex, EUAA, UNHCR, and IOM.
The Steering Committee provided a platform for partners to discuss situational updates on migration management, review national and regional priorities, and assess activities carried out over the past year. These discussions also focused on aligning future plans with Albania’s goals and commitments in the field of migration as part of its EU accession processes.
The IPA III project aims to contribute to effective protection-sensitive migration management in the Western Balkans, in alignment with the EU and international standards as part of the EU accession processes.
