NSM 2024-2030: Validating objectives and priority measures for migration governance with the Inter-institutional Working Group
Pogradec, 20-21 September 2023 – IOM supported the Ministry of Interior in the development of a 2-day workshop of the Inter-institutional Working Group to detail and validate specific objectives and priority measures for migration governance, as part of the drafting process of the National Strategy on Migration and Action Plan 2024-2030.
The three political goals of this document, aiming at supporting the Albanian integration process in the EU, are:
- Guaranteeing the strategic governance of migration in Albania.
- Developing effective migration policies for employment purposes and increasing the positive impact of migration on national and local socio-economic development.
- Promotion of regular migration and protection of migrants' rights and their integration into Albanian society.
Specific issues such as guaranteeing voting for Albanian immigrants and promoting the registration of home addresses in their countries of residence until 2025, mixed migratory flows as well and the issue of unaccompanied minors, were also part of the discussions.
This activity took place within the two-year project “Supporting the development and implementation of a new National Strategy on Migration and Action Plan in Albania” funded by the IOM Development Fund (IDF).
