WBCAP - Assessment workshop to start the implementation of the Electronic Readmission Case Management System
Following an online pre-assessment meeting, on 3-4 May 2023 IOM facilitated a two-day assessment workshop in Tirana with representatives from the Migration Directorate and IT Department in the State Police, Institute of Scientific Police, Department of Consular Affairs in the MFA, IOM WBCAP Team and Nordicstation company, to better understand the existing local processes and the experiences of the institutional actors involved in the readmission case management system, as well as assess the digital maturity and compatibility of the electronic systems for return and readmission in Albania.
This event represented the start of the implementation of the Electronic Case Management System (e-RCMS) in Albania, which will facilitate easier communication and coordination of readmission between EU countries and Albania.
Albania is the first country in the Western Balkans to undergo this assessment and will be followed by Serbia and Montenegro under the Western Balkans Readmission Capacity Building Facility (WBCAP), supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
In the WB, IOM keeps providing advice and capacity-building support to foster cooperation on developing rights-based return, readmission, and reintegration policies and processes that comply with international standards.
