The Third National Summit of Diaspora in Italy
IOM Albania Diaspora Programme representatives participated in the Third National Summit of Diaspora held in Rome, Italy, on 14 December 2019.
The summit was organized by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (IADC) in partnership with several actors, and focused mainly on the networking and partnership among associations of migrants, on the role of Diaspora in the international cooperation, on the need of changing the narrative on migration, as well as on the increasing role of diaspora to the economic development on both, the home and host countries.
Through the Diaspora Programme and the involvement of fellows in Albanian Embassy in Rome and General Consulates in Milan and Bari, as well as the six focal points in Italy, respectively in Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio and Sicily, IOM Albania is engaging and interacting with different Albanian Associations, business organizations and trade chambers in Italy to better empowering and engaging the Albanian Diaspora in Italy.
The Programme 'Engage the Albanian Diaspora to the Social and Economic Development of Albania' is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Albania, the UN Agency on Migration, with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in coordination with the Albanian State Minister for Diaspora, Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Albanian Ministry of Finance and Economy.
