Embassies – United States, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Sweden – and international organization operating in the country - UN Albania (UNDP Albania, WHO Albania, UN Women Albania, UNICEF Albania, UNFPA Albania, UNHCR, IOM Albania), Delegation of European Union in Albania, World Bank Albania, the OSCE Presence in Albania and the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship 2020 – issued a joint statement on Sunday in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These are extraordinary days for the entire world. The COVID-19 pandemic is claiming human lives and causing massive upheavals for humanity. We as a community of development partners in Albania would like to express our unity with the Albanian people as we join forces in this fight. We stand by you to overcome this crisis together! We have a message for you: Don’t assume you won’t be affected. Prepare as if you will be. Respect the measures taken, protect yourself and your loved ones, maintain social distancing, stay at home, and wash your hands frequently. We want you to stay safe, healthy and free of Coronavirus. Read reliable information from the World Health Organization - WHO and the Ministry of Health and contribute to building trust. Protect the vulnerable and take care of one another. This moment also calls for solidarity. As the rest of us are tucked home, we express immense gratitude to all health workers, police and border authorities, municipal authorities and others who are in the front line, saving lives and keeping society functioning.
