IPA III - The First National Steering Committee Meeting organized in Tirana
Tirana, 08 September 2023 - The first National Steering Committee Meeting of the European Union-funded programme “Regional Support to Protection-Sensitive Migration Management Systems in the Western Balkans - IPA III", was organized in Tirana.
The meeting, chaired by the General Director of Development for Migration and Asylum Ms. Silvana Banushi, was attended by representatives of the European Union Delegation in Albania, FRONTEX, EU Agency for Asylum (EUAA), UNHCR, IOM, the Ministry of Interior and the State Police.
IPA III partners came face to face to discuss migration management challenges and priorities in the country and relevant emerging needs. Moreover, they looked into the project activities for the upcoming 12 months through insightful discussions. Complementary initiatives by other national authorities and organizations were also mentioned.
The third phase of the programme “Regional Support to Protection-Sensitive Migration Management Systems in the Western Balkans” aims to contribute to effective protection-sensitive migration management in the region that is aligned to EU and international standards under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance for the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework period (IPA III) as part of the EU accession processes of the Programme’s partner administrations (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia).
The duration of the programme is four years from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025.
