IOM WB Coordinator in a visit to Tirana to reconfirm partnerships for inclusive migration governance
Tirana, Albania, 07-09 February 2024 - The IOM Coordinator for the Western Balkans Laura Lungarotti, embarked on an official visit to Tirana from February 7th to 9th, 2024. The purpose of her visit was to reaffirm IOM's partnerships and dedication to fostering inclusive migration governance in the country.
Joined by the IOM Albania Head of Office Alma Jani, Lungarotti engaged in crucial discussions with key stakeholders. These included meetings with Taulant Balla, the Minister of Interior, Silvio Gonzato, the EU Ambassador to Albania, representatives from UNHCR, Frontex, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in the Western Balkans, and delegates from the Embassies of the UK and Sweden.
The focal point of these discussions was to explore avenues for collaboration and synergies in migration governance. Topics ranged from joint efforts in ensuring the well-being of migrants to enhancing support mechanisms for their integration.
The visit underscored IOM's unwavering commitment to promoting inclusive governance of migration and advancing the rights and dignity of migrants in Albania
