IOM, dedicated to continue strengthening Labour Migration Framework in Albania
December 14, 2022, Tirana – IOM Albania organized an expert level conference on strengthening labour migration framework in Albania.
In this event, IOM presented a series of assessments and studies developed in close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, INSTAT, Ministry of Interior, the National Agency for Employment and Skills and the Albanian School of Public Administration, funded by the IOM Development Fund.
The research studies and documents focused on the impact of migration on the labor market & the structure of the labour force; Ethical recruitment of migrant workers; The Labour Migration Policy Guide in Albania, will shape the way forward on labour migration policies and contribute to migration governance in a broader context.
“Partnerships are key to ensure sustainability and we believe the work done under this project will shape the way forward on labour migration governance in a broader context” – said Alma Jani, Head of Office of IOM Mission in Albania.
While the UN Albania Resident Coordinator Fiona McClunney emphasized the continuous efforts of United Nations in responding to migration challenges and dynamics – “Being an EU candidate, a signatory of the Global Compact on Migration and the Sustainable Developments Goals, Albania is in a favorable position to further good migration governance”.
