IOM Albania launches the Country Strategy for 2022-2025
IOM Albania launched its Country Strategy for the period 2022-2025.
The country strategy affirms IOM’s mandate and core priorities as laid out in its Strategic Vision and related governance documents. It highlights the current and future migration trends in Albania and sets out the context in which IOM carries out its activities.
According to Alma Jani, Head of Office of the IOM Mission in Albania, “The Strategy is a key tool which articulates trends and challenges and how IOM will work with the stakeholders and partners to achieve the strategic objectives".
With our staff and experts in Albania and abroad, we will be close to the local communities and join efforts with the government, UN Agencies, our partners, and donors, in responding to the needs of migrants across the entire migration cycle and foster effective cooperation for the benefit of all”.
The srategic priorities for Albania focus on addressing national migration trends and challenges through three main pillars:
- RESILIENCE, through supporting individuals, local communities, and Diaspora to be empowered and to engage to the development of the country.
- MOBILITY, through providing efforts to strive towards fostering safe, orderly, and regular migration.
- GOVERNANCE, in order to ensure migration benefits from a whole of-government and whole-of society approach.
The IOM Albania strategy is intended for a four-year period (2022–2025) and is flexible and subject to periodic reviews, allowing for adjustments to new realities and emerging issues/situations. IOM will strive to implement the strategy in close cooperation and partnership with governments, donors, migrants, civil society, the private sector, and all relevant stakeholders and beneficiaries.
