Diaspora Medical Meeting

Diaspora Medical Meeting, dedicated to Albanian doctors with professional activities in the Diaspora and doctors from the Diaspora who have returned to Albania, took place on 20 February 2020. This meeting was held, for the first time, by the National Diaspora Agency in cooperation with Albanian State Minister for Diaspora, Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Albanian Fund for Diaspora Development.

Representatives of IOM Albanian Programme 'Engage the Albanian Diaspora to the Social and Economic Development of Albania' participated in the Diaspora Medical Meeting to give visibility to the programme and build networks with Albanian Diaspora professionals, emphasize the importance of the scientific Diaspora in the development of the country.
“Diaspora members continue to contribute to increase professional and institutional capacity not only by returning to Albania but also through 'virtual return'. Cooperation with their counterparts in the home country creates a professional and institutional synergy,” said Mr. Pandeli Majko, Albanian State Minister for Diaspora.

These types of events are good networking platforms which contribute to the efforts of the Albanian Diaspora to the development of the country

The IOM Albania Diaspora Programme is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Albania, the UN Migration Agency, with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in coordination with the Albanian State Minister for Diaspora, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finance and Economy.
