Capacity Building workshop for the implementation of National Strategy on Migration
IOM Albania in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior organized a three-days Capacity Building workshop with the implementing institutions of the National Strategy on Migration (NSM) and Action Plan (AP) 2019-2022. The event was held from 15 – 17 March 2022, bringing together the representatives of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, General Directorate of State Police, State Inspectorate of Labor and Social Services, INSTAT, Institute of Social Insurance, AIDA, Bank of Albania, ADISA, Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination, ASPA, GIZ and IOM Albania.
During the capacity building event participants analyzed the implementation progress of the NSM and AP 2019-2022, as well as migration governance coordination instruments. Organized in 4 working groups, based on common responsibilities of the NSM implementation, were identified common responsibilities and individual institutional plans for further implementation. Concrete actions for the implementation of the remaining migration strategy measures were analyzed and defined, considering the continuity of policies and international commitments.
Mrs. Silva Banushi, Director of the General Directorate of Regulation and Compliance, stressed that “strategic migration governance continues to be a very important priority for the Ministry of Interior. "I highly appreciate the contribution of all institutions implementing and assisting the implementation of the National Strategy of Migration. Strengthening the reporting and coordination mechanism, supported by IOM and GIZ, has produced clear and tangible results," said Ms. Banushi.
The event was organized in the framework of the project "Improving Coordination for Migration Governance in Albania" implemented jointly with GIZ Albania, through the financial support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the Federal Ministry German for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
