Passenger Information Unit of Albania’s State Police enhances digital and operational capacities with support from the WBIBM Facility

The Passenger Information Unit of the Albanian State Police has received a series of IT and logistical donations under the regional “Western Balkans Integrated Border Management” (WBIBM) Facility. The project, funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark and implemented by IOM, aims to strengthen migration and border governance across the Western Balkans.

The donations were formally handed over by IOM Albania, including its Head of Office, Mrs. Alma Jani, highlighting the long-standing cooperation between IOM and the Albanian State Police.

These contributions are designed to enhance the Unit’s operational and analytical capacities, with a particular focus on the digitalization of internal processes and the modernization of its infrastructure and tools. The newly donated equipment complements previous donations made under the WBIBM Facility, ensuring continuity in strengthening institutional performance.

During the handover, Mrs. Jani emphasized the tangible impact of these donations, noting that the support provided thus far has translated into measurable improvements for the State Police. She reiterated IOM’s commitment to continued collaboration in strengthening Albania’s border and migration management systems.

This ongoing assistance plays a crucial role in reinforcing public order and internal security by enabling more effective detection and response to irregular migration and migrant smuggling. The donated equipment directly supports the development of new border and customs intelligence structures, aligning Albania’s efforts with European Union and international standards.
