Memorandum of Understanding between IOM Albania and the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism of the Government of Albania
On 10 February 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Albania and Coordination Center for countering Violent Extremism of the Government of Albania (CCCVE).
This MoU was signed in framework of the IOM Western Balkans Regional Project “Building institutional capacity in the Western Balkans to deal with challenges related to reintegration and rehabilitation of returnees from conflict zones”, funded by European Union which will be implemented through August 2023.
The Government of Albania appreciates the support of IOM and EU in the course of our joint efforts in the process of preventing and countering violent extremism. The CVE Center will make sure that a sustainable and fruitful coordination shall take place between all the stakeholders involved in this long-term process,” says Ms. Lejdi Dervishi, Director of CVE Center.
“This MoU aims the harmonization, to the extent possible, of activities with the attempt to achieve a maximum cooperation between the main stakeholders dealing with reintegration and rehabilitation of returnees from conflict zones,” noted Ms. Alma Jani, IOM Albania Head of Office.
“This will contribute to reintegrate children, woman, and men returning from the camps in Syria through psychologists, social workers, humanitarian aid and solid case management,” highlighted Mr. Jonas Paul representative of EU in Albania.
This project will contribute to build the road towards establishment of Reintegration of Foreign Terrorist Fighters (RFTF) case management system in Albania with EU support by implementing a friendly approach towards minors, and family reintegration by all stakeholders involved in line with EU standards and human rights principles.
