IOM organizes training on travel document examination for Albanian Border and Migration Authorities
Tirana, 18-19 March 2025 - IOM, in cooperation with the Forensic Center Albania, organized a training on travel document examination in Tirana. The training was conducted within the framework of the Western Balkan Integrated Border Management Facility (WBIBM) and aimed to strengthen the expertise of the Albanian Border and Migration Police in document security and fraud detection.
A total of 16 first-line border guards participated in the training, receiving certification in key areas such as:
- Types of travel and identification documents
- Security features used in travel documents
- Methods of document falsification and identifying forged documents
- Techniques for basic document examination, etc.
This initiative responds to the growing need for specialized expertise among Albanian border authorities, equipping officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure secure and efficient border management.
Through the Western Balkans Integrated Management Capacity Building Facility funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, IOM enhances border management among Western Balkans authorities supporting their effective rights-based response to border security challenges.
