Duration: 15 months

The overall objective of the project is to support the efforts of the Government of Albania (GoA) in initiating the process of engagement of Albanian communities abroad to contribute to the country’s economic and social development.

This objective will be realised through the completion of a set of activities organized under two project components.

The first component foresees expert support from a team of government and nongovernment experts to develop a policy framework to facilitate greater participation of Albanian communities abroad in development initiatives of Albania (ACA). This component will be realised in close consultation with national government institutions and ACA.

The second project component foresees establishing a comprehensive dialogue with the Albanian communities abroad on development initiatives in Albania, in particular in Greece, Italy and United States of America. In addition the project will enhance the capacities of the newly established Sector of Diaspora at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and of various GoA institutions dealing with migration and development issues to effectively reach out Albanian communities abroad.
