IOM and Government of Italy to implement the project for prevention of Human Trafficking in Albania

Albania is known as a source and transit country primarily for trafficking of women and children respectively for purposes of sexual exploitation and begging. Mostly, female victims are trafficked to Italy and to other EU countries. The Italian Government project in prevention of human trafficking was based on IOM previous experience with counter-trafficking in particular girls and young women. The project aimed to strengthen anti-trafficking network capacities and technical cooperation to enable the power of Government and non-governmental organizations in Albania, that work in the field of combating and preventing trafficking.
