HLWG 2001 – Voluntary return and Reintegration of Illegal Migrants and Victims of Trafficking stranded in Albania (January 2004)
The aim of this project was to develop and strengthen the regional capacities to manage irregular migration flows into, through and from Albania . This has been achieved by establishing the necessary mechanisms to facilitate the voluntary return and sustainable reintegration of 175 victims of trafficking and illegal migrants stranded in Albania to their countries of origin such as Turkey , Moldova , Ukraine , Bulgaria , Romania , Sri Lanka and other countries of interest to the European Union.
The project created an effective Regional Reintegration Support Network, comprising local and international NGOs, government agencies, and other actors, which could effectively engage in the reintegration of returnees in their countries and province(s) of origin. This project was completed in January 2004.
