The overall objective of the project is to enhance the fight against irregular migration and cross-border transgressions at the borders within the Western Balkans, in order to directly contribute to enhanced security in the Western Balkans and Western Europe.
The project is going to be carried out in four phases, i.e. comprising four components as follows:
Component 1- creation and adoption of a Specialised Regional Training Curriculum on joint patrols and cross-border cooperation in coordination with the Secretariat of Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe and the DCAF office in Ljubljana; creation and adoption of the Regional Transnational Crime Manual and creation and adoption of the Handbook that incorporates relevant legislation for the implementation of joint patrols amended in line with the PCC SEE Manual;
Component 2- trainings to enhance joint patrols and cross-border cooperation between Border Police Officials of participating project locations.
Component 3- a study visit to an EU Country in the context of Mobile Units and Police and Customs Cooperation Centre.
Component 4- purchase requisite technical equipment and infrastructure to enhance the work of Border Police Units within participating project locations.
*This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
